Inertia for the intangible...

Inertia - The property of matter by which it remains in its existing state of rest or motion unless acted upon by an external force.
That inertia is a property of tangible things is something we all know. That inertia affects an intangible thing called learning is what i propose.

Birth...

We have a very simple request at birth. We want to understand everything around us. Give us that and we leave you in peace. Try not answering our questions and we yell with the loudest shrill. We stare wide eyed and we cry with the voice of highest decibel. We demand explanations left right and center. Schooling exposes us to a whole new universe of knowledge about the world. This is the time we learn how to make friends. All this learning gets us pretty excited. There are so many hopes and aspirations we nurture. We want to be footballers. Cricketers...star. We want to be successful. And we want to shine...
We are learning, we are dreaming, we sleep well at night. Period.

Okay, time to grow up more!!!

Teenagers...
we now accept that we have become realistic so we dream of becoming engineers and doctors and MBA...Some of us who have parents with fat pockets dream of starting their own business. We all dream of cars and nice flats, and weekends at theaters, we dream some more of dinner at nice restaurants...we dream and we study and we pass college...
We are Learning, We are still dreaming, we still get sound sleep at night. Period.

Time to grow some more...

Marriage.
Now we see ourselves settled in our careers. We have just started our married lives. We are now not learning about the world rather more about what’s in our house: "The life partner”. But of course, we are still learning so we are happy... We are dreaming somewhat less, but still dreaming and hence sleeping well at night.

Now. We stop growing

what. When did this happen? Shock horror! We stopped learning professionally as we were nicely enjoying marital bliss. And then once things got usual there, there was nothing new to explore, learn. So what happened? We started feeling a certain amount of discomfort. We started to feel unhappines.Leading a monotonous life after so many exciting phases does that to you. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is what I call inertia affecting learning and in a way you. You stopped learning, so you disrupted your inertia.Inertia provided resistance to you in the form of negative emotions.tut tut...are you now sleeping well? No...

Dimaag ki batti chamki :)

Now you suffer from some mild form of mild life crisis. Which comes way before midlife in today’s generation. So is there any secret to come out of it? Well, that’s hardly a secret. Start learning! You will find it difficult initially as inertia is going to act upon you when you move from your state of rest. But once the initial discomfort is over. You can learn anything you like. But just don’t give up learning. It will keep on supplying you with a plethora of ideas. They will give you a medium to dream and be happy. And you will go back to sleeping well.
