Man is the creator of God.

Long long time ago, I had read an editorial in Times of India, which explored the topic of prayers. It had a very fresh feel to it. The gist of it was to say, we pray to soothe our nerves. We pray when we are upset, hassled, worried, sad, unhappy etc. Sing a song and it won’t have the same effect. But reciting a prayer gives you hope. What makes it so different for a song and a prayer? It is Belief. We have been told right since our childhood that God will always show us the right path and God will help us in times of need. And praying is a medium of communication with God. So the moment we start reciting a prayer, we calm down. As we have a feeling of faith that things will turn out the way we want them. And where we have faith, there we have relaxed nerves.

The article set me thinking some more. Where does this belief and faith come from? Does it come from God? How many times do we hear people say that God is the creator of the universe? Quite often i believe. This is by far the biggest paradox of the universe. We all know Man has created God. And not the other way round. Right from the onset of civilization, Man has always sought explanation for things and events around him. Some he could explain. For others he knew some inhuman forces controlled them. He attributed all of these to God. He gave a name face to these events and explained them as God. In some cases God was also provided the role to maintain local law and order. Hence God was declared to have said some things as right and some as wrong. People followed the same thinking they will be happy if they followed the rights and avoided all wrongs.
The point to note here is that human faith and belief has tremendous power. We pray to God thinking all will be well. But Then God is nothing but our strongest belief. We believe in religion. And religion is one of the strongest controlling factors for humans across the world. If we have complete faith and belief in something, we are sure to be controlled by if. If it’s an ambition, we will achieve it. If it’s an obstacle we will overcome it. We just need to believe in it; sincerely and with full faith.  :)

So let us sing along with the twinkle brothers and say,
Yes Faith can move mountains,
Darling you will see,
I can move mountains,
If you have faith in me.

It’s not enough to decide. And it’s not about the deciding factor at all…

I don’t like classics; only when the classic thing under discussion is a problem. I am talking about the classic problem of having to decide between two things. Both of which are agonizingly tempting. What do you do? How do you decide? Walk aimlessly. Think. Grab a bite. Think. Oh yes, I like option 1.Smile. Pick up the phone to convey you decided! NO wait a minute. I stand to lose the option2. Horror! Rethink. Walk again. Think. Think …. Think some more.

Having multiple options is worse than having no option. Such a sweet little tempting devil it is. It knows where to hit, the human Greed. Who wants to lose out on anything? Most of us want all; lucky are the remaining few who can easily let go. Letting one of it go will bother us, letting the other might bother more. What to do? How to choose? Just close your eyes and listen to nirvana…

We think some more. It would be wonderful if one of these options simply evaporates in air. Frustrated we think its enough. Too much of dilly dallying. It is high time we conclude what we want. Painfully we accept that we are caught inside a silly loop in a silly algorithm which tries to come up with a safest option. Yes, we all want to be safe.  We are not happy with selecting what we like. Neither are we happy with selecting what’s good for us. We are only happy with selecting the option that will fetch us least problems in life. We decide based on this deciding factor, which is sad. And we go on in life, maybe to repent the decision later on. Is it?

No, I think its far from the truth. From the way I see the world <25F/Single, hardly any experience> I see that there are 2 types of people. One who are always counting what wrong decisions they have taken; others don’t have time to think about such silly issues. If you belong to the first, then any amount of thinking you do for choosing the right thing is wasted. As if you happen to have problems with your decision in your life later on, you are bound to blame it on wrong decisions. And repent. And regret. The second category of people is the smart ones. They decide and then stick to it. They never have room for regret. They treat a problem like a problem. They never waste time thinking why did it happen, how I couldn’t avoid it.  So once they decide, and whatever decision it may be, they lock their ears, eyes and mind for the other option. It’s like it never existed. And why not! Who wants to live in a web of dreams that will never turn in to reality?
So don’t fret so much over decision making. Nothing is right or wrong. Just choose what gives you happiness and stick to it. Sticking to what you selected gives you the best high! ;) That’s the secret J
