I don’t like classics; only when the classic thing under
discussion is a problem. I am talking about the classic problem of having to
decide between two things. Both of which are agonizingly tempting. What do you
do? How do you decide? Walk aimlessly. Think. Grab a bite. Think. Oh yes, I
like option 1.Smile. Pick up the phone to convey you decided! NO wait a minute.
I stand to lose the option2. Horror! Rethink. Walk again. Think. Think …. Think
some more.
Having multiple options is worse than having no option. Such
a sweet little tempting devil it is. It knows where to hit, the human Greed.
Who wants to lose out on anything? Most of us want all; lucky are the remaining
few who can easily let go. Letting one of it go will bother us, letting the
other might bother more. What to do? How to choose? Just close your eyes and
listen to nirvana…
We think some more. It would be wonderful if one of these options
simply evaporates in air. Frustrated we think its enough. Too much of dilly
dallying. It is high time we conclude what we want. Painfully we accept that we
are caught inside a silly loop in a silly algorithm which tries to come up with
a safest option. Yes, we all want to be safe. We are not happy with selecting what we like.
Neither are we happy with selecting what’s good for us. We are only happy with selecting
the option that will fetch us least problems in life. We decide based on this deciding
factor, which is sad. And we go on in life, maybe to repent the decision later
on. Is it?
No, I think its far from the truth. From the way I see the
world <25F/Single, hardly any experience> I see that there are 2 types of
people. One who are always counting what wrong decisions they have taken; others
don’t have time to think about such silly issues. If you belong to the first, then
any amount of thinking you do for choosing the right thing is wasted. As if you
happen to have problems with your decision in your life later on, you are bound
to blame it on wrong decisions. And repent. And regret. The second category of
people is the smart ones. They decide and then stick to it. They never have
room for regret. They treat a problem like a problem. They never waste time
thinking why did it happen, how I couldn’t avoid it. So once they decide, and whatever decision it
may be, they lock their ears, eyes and mind for the other option. It’s like it
never existed. And why not! Who wants to live in a web of dreams that will
never turn in to reality?
So don’t fret so much over decision making. Nothing
is right or wrong. Just choose what gives you happiness and stick to it.
Sticking to what you selected gives you the best high! ;) That’s the secret J
I don't know in which category i fall. But I believe every choice have a price and I choose the one for which i can pay the price happily...
ReplyDelete:) Nicely expressed :)
DeleteI believe that a decision made Will be proved to be the right one if we stick to it and believe in ourself and our ability to take decisions. No decision is right or wrong. It becomes right or wrong based on the end result for which we take the decision and we must strive hard to achieve the end result with the decision we opt.
ReplyDeleteI think , even in the end, you cannot evaluate it to be right or wrong.:)
Deletecontradiction, how can you stick to something without taking a decision :P
ReplyDeleteNot like that, its about not fretting a lot before deciding.. jisse khushi mile, woh chun lo :)
DeleteStick to what gives you the best high..... and explore all the options until one of them ceases to be one ......because a life so perfect is a life never lived.................
ReplyDelete"because a life so perfect is a life never lived"
DeleteSo true :)
"Nothing is right or wrong" ...well nothing is 'absolutely' right or 'absolutely' wrong.
ReplyDeleteits all relative...einstein's theory of relativity applies equally when choosing the 'appropriate' option.
deciding whats 'appropriate' is quite subjective as well.
an 'appropriate' decision per Hugh Hefner would reason as 'inappropriate' per Baba Ramdev...:)
an interesting choice of topic for your first blog.
suspect you picked up this topic after fretting on which topic to select for your first blog...:)
happy blogging...:)
Maktub, Everything ,in the end, is subjective right? ;)
